Identity & masculinity

Young men trying to figure out who they are in a world that keeps shifting.

Coaching looks forward. Counselling looks back.

I’m not here to pull your past apart for the sake of it. I’m here to help you make sense of where you are now, what has brought you here, and what might need to change next. Sometimes counselling is the right place to start. If I think that’s the case, I’ll say so.

Many of the men I work with are navigating grief, loss, major life change, burnout, or the feeling that life no longer fits the way it once did

My formal background is in nursing, HIV care and infectious diseases, and I later taught end-of-life care at university. Over the years, I worked closely with people facing death, grief and major change. Men Don’t Cry grew out of that experience, and from my own understanding of what it means to lose, start again and keep going.

The hardest part is the call. After that, it gets easier.

No pressure, no pitch. A free conversation to see if we’re a fit.

Testimonials

Working with Phillipe Walker made a bigger difference than I expected. He paid attention to the details, genuinely supported me, and I never felt rushed or overlooked. For years, I felt stuck, but he helped me break through obstacles in a way that finally made sense. I reached personal goals I never thought I’d achieve, and I’m truly grateful for his steady support. I’d recommend him without hesitation — not just as a coach, but as someone you can trust and feel comfortable with.

Although I have known Gavin socially for a number of years, I have had occasion to use his services professionally. I found working with him both helpful and stimulating, making me think in ways that were different and certainly out of my comfort zone. At no point did I feel our social friendship undermined or impacted our professional conversations or his professional conduct as a coach towards me. I would heartily recommend Gavin's skills as a coach and would describe his guidance as discrete, positive and constructive, above all, unswervingly supportive.
